Leadership Experience: I have been lucky to work as an educator since graduating from college in '06. I am a full time teacher, and currently developing a drama program at a small school in Southern California. I have a blast directing plays, coaching the improv comedy team and leading week-long school expeditions to places like Yosemite! AAVE fits right into my schedule since I have summers free to explore, play and expand my leadership skills.
What AAVE means to me?: AAVE has given me the opportunity to interact with teenagers in an atmosphere and dynamic that is different from the day-to-day grind of school. Summer is my favorite time of year because - if you take full advantage of all that it offers - it can feel like a separate lifetime! AAVE gives both teens and leaders the chance to make a family out of new friends, to travel and encounter new cultures, to be silly and laugh and create an awesome experience that no one can touch! I am all about summer, all about visiting earth, and all about connecting with new people.
Favorite Quote: "God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED - To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be." - Unknown
The Perfect Day: I think my perfect days are the ones where by sunset I am totally wiped out, laying in a pig-pile of friends, my cheeks are pink from the sun, my hair is wet from either the surf or the snow, my stomach hurts from non-stop laughing and someone is cooking up a feast.
Dream Job: Being a screenwriter is my secret pipe dream. (Well, maybe not so secret!)
Dream Vacation: My dream vacation is longer than three months! Summer goes by too quick! At the moment Australia is at the top of my list ... I want to see some kangaroos and koala bears, scuba dive in the reefs, surf the crystal clear waters and try to fake the accent! Plus my best friend is there!
What I do when I'm not at AAVE: I'm a teacher - so I'm usually doing that! But when I'm not on the job I am usually in the surf, running or dancing. I love to check out new plays, go to concerts, read, work on my screenplays and just hang out with friends.
